Copperplate Printmaking, Creation Process “Etching” (August 2023)
First Etching Attempt (ground application and acid submersion)
After applying liquid ground (corrosive agent) on the copperplate, I draw using a needle. Then, I immerse it in a nitric acid solution to etch the lines as drawn. After the etching process, I remove the liquid ground using an organic solvent.
Second Etching Attempt (once again, ground application and acid submersion)
Second etching process.
I apply liquid ground only on the areas that I wish to etch. The acid will etch the surface of the plate, creating unevenness on the surface, where the ink will stick.
